Psalm 90:1, "Lord, through all the generations you have been our home" (NLT).
These words were spoken by Moses. A man who knew what it was to grow up in a family and a culture that wasn't his own.
He knew what it was to not belong. He knew what it was to be on the run. He knew what it was to wander aimlessly in the wilderness.
Yet he was able to burst with praise in Psalm chapter 90 and the words he starts with are these: "Lord, through all the generations you have been our home."
When everything was out of place, God was his home.
When he didn't belong, God was his home.
When he was an outcast, God was his home.
When he was oppressed, God was his home.
When he was lost in the wilderness, God was his home.
No matter how chaotic our circumstances may be or how displaced or ostracized we feel, God is our home. And when we withdraw into the shelter of His presence and abide in communion with His Spirit, we are home.
Acts 17:27-28, "God intended that they would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us. 'For in Him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are His offspring'" (BSB).
Romans 8:15, "So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, 'Abba, Father'" (NLT).
