A Path No One Knew was There

Psalm 77: 19 "Your road led through the sea, your pathway through the mighty waters—a pathway no one knew was there!" (NLT).
The Israelites were stuck between a rock and a hard place. They'd just been freed from captivity only to find themselves in yet another prison. The Egyptians were coming to enslave them once again (and possibly kill them if they resisted). All the while in front of them loomed an impossible obstacle: the Red Sea. It was hopeless. They were trapped. There was no way out.
But then God did the miraculous. As it turns out, there was a way of escape. A way only God knew about. He had brought them to this place for a reason. He had determined their course and planned their escape long before they knew they needed one. And in a miraculous display of sovereign provision He parted the Red Sea.
Have you ever found yourself in an impossible situation? Maybe it's an unplanned hospital bill with an amount that knocks the breath right out of you. Maybe it's a dozen rejection letters that tie your stomach in knots. Maybe you need a job urgently but no matter how many applications you fill out no one ever calls you back. Maybe it's a family situation, a relationship situation, a school situation, or maybe it’s something else entirely.
Regardless of what your situation might be, I pray these truths will encourage your heart:
1. God has a good plan. Romans 8:28 assures us that God works EVERYTHING together for good for those who are His children. Even when someone sins against us God can use the enemy’s own strategies against him. He can redeem and restore. Joseph in the Bible knew a lot about this. He was sold into slavery, wrongly accused, and thrown into prison for years. Yet when he came face to face with his brothers who started it all he was able to say, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives” (NIV).
2. God can bring something out of nothing. He does it all the time. He created the entire universe out of nothing. Our God is the God of the impossible. He brings light out of darkness, healing out of sickness, beauty out of pain, and life out of death. In fact Jesus' death and resurrection is the biggest example of this. While we were still lost in our trespasses and sins He came to save us. He took our nothing onto Himself in order to make us something we never could've become on our own: children of God.
We can trust God with our impossible circumstances. He is our Heavenly Father. He loves us more than we can fathom, and He has a plan.
Question: Are you in what looks like an impossible situation right now? Does it feel like there's no way out?
