Courage to Wait

Psalm 27:14 "Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord." (NLT) It seems odd to see the words "brave and courageous" attached to a verse about waiting. But it's actually not. Choosing to wait on the Lord's timing requires deep trust. It requires faith that goes beyond what one can see. Courage to wait. When you're overwhelmed by the opinions and expectations of others. Courage to wait. When your dream seems to be slipping away from you at a rapid speed. Courage to wait. When your heart aches and your longings beg to be satisfied. Courage to wait. When the storm seems to be brewing and you're tempted to panic and run.

Courage to wait. When you hear voices in your head suggesting that your Heavenly Father is not to be trusted. Courage to wait. When you fear a great loss. Courage to wait. When you feel forgotten by God. Courage to wait. When it might mean risking everything. Courage to wait. When it feels like giving up your chance. Courage to wait. When everything in your life screams for you to plow ahead. Courage to wait means trusting in the unwavering love of your Heavenly Father. It means trusting in His infinite wisdom, and His tender regard for your soul. Courage to wait means shutting out all other voices but His. It means holding your head high in godly confidence when others tell you you're not where you should be.

Courage to wait means pleasing God above all others; it means not caving to others' demands when they go against the sacred words God has spoken to your heart. Courage to wait means refusing to take the easy way out. It means a solitary resolve to seek the Kingdom of God above all else. It means a decision to trust the heart of God above all else.

Courage to wait means giving up our pride, our fears, and anything else that dares to raise its voice above the voice of God in our lives. One who waits on the Lord alone is not fearful or lazy as others may suppose. One who dares to wait on the Lord is incredibly courageous and uncommonly brave.

Question: Are the pressures and circumstances in your life causing you to lose the courage to wait?

Isaiah 44:21b, " I, the LORD, made you, and I will not forget you" (NLT).

Matthew 28:20b, "And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age" (NLT).

Isaiah 43:19, "For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland" (NLT).
