May I never Forget...

Psalm 77:11, "But then I recall all you have done, O LORD; I remember your wonderful deeds of long ago" (NLT).
Since we launched The Fervent Life a few weeks ago I've been writing with God more than I have in a very long time. It's been an amazing time of renewed passion and faith.
But I know myself. I get caught up in the doing. I get stuck going through the motions. I forget the why and the Who, and I start following my own dreams.
So the other morning instead of instantly gleaning the Scriptures for nuggets of truth to share with the world (or at least whoever happens across our website) I told God I was afraid of getting caught up in the "doing" like I usually do.
I asked Him for advice. How can I keep my heart tethered to His presence? He told me to mix things up that morning and listen to some worship music instead of opening my Bible first thing.
So I did. And my mind calmed and my heart filled with that trembling joy that's unlike anything else, as I remembered who my Heavenly Father was and all He'd done for me.
I ended up grabbing my journal and a pen and writing this:
"May I never forget the God who held me on my darkest nights,
Who comforted my heart in the midst of chaos,
Who saved my life when I was tempted to take it.
May I never forget the God who breathed life into my lungs as I lay dying,
Who brought light from my darkness,
And joy from my mourning.
May I never forget the God whose love is better than life itself,
Who places purpose in every breath I breathe,
Whose love will never stop saving me.
May I never forget love letters in the middle of night,
Tender embraces on the bathroom floor,
May I never forget that my reason for joy, my reason for peace, my reason for hope, my reason for living... is You."
Question: Are you like me? Do you get so caught up "doing" things for God, that you forget to BE with Him?
Psalm 63:2-3, "I have seen you in your sanctuary and gazed upon your power and glory. Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you!" (NLT).
