Moving His Way Through the Crowd to You

Matthew 9:36, "When He saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd " (NLT).

I've been reading through the Gospels and Jesus' gentleness to the crowds--His compassion for the sick and the lost--moves me to tears.

I love Matthew 9:36 because I see myself in it. I've been confused. I've been helpless. I've been lost. Have you ever felt that way?

Like you don't know what you're doing? Like you try and try but all you do is mess things up? Have you ever been so confused and lost you feared you'd never find your way back home?

If that's where you are Beloved take heart. Jesus sees you. And His eyes are full of gentleness and compassion. He is pursuing you whether you realize it or not. And if you cry out to Him He will hear your timid voice and make His way through the crowd to you.

Take heart, Beloved, because though you may be lost, confused, and helpless, you are deeply loved. Cry out to Him. Take hold of His outstretched hand. It's gonna be okay.

Question: Is it hard for you to imagine Jesus looking at you with compassion and love? Especially when you're lost, confused, and making mistakes?

Mark 10:46-52, "Then they reached Jericho, and as Jesus and his disciples left town, a large crowd followed him. A blind beggar named Bartimaeus (son of Timaeus) was sitting beside the road. When Bartimaeus heard that Jesus of Nazareth was nearby, he began to shout, 'Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!'

'Be quiet!' many of the people yelled at him. But he only shouted louder, 'Son of David, have mercy on me!' When Jesus heard him, he stopped and said, 'Tell him to come here.'

So they called the blind man. 'Cheer up,' they said. 'Come on, he’s calling you!' Bartimaeus threw aside his coat, jumped up, and came to Jesus. 'What do you want me to do for you?' Jesus asked.

'My Rabbi,' the blind man said, 'I want to see!' And Jesus said to him, 'Go, for your faith has healed you.' Instantly the man could see, and he followed Jesus down the road" (NLT).

Luke 19:41, "As [Jesus] approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it and said, 'If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace..." (NIV).
