The Choice

Deuteronomy 30:19-20, "Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! You can make this choice by loving the LORD your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him. This is the key to your life" (NLT).
What a great and marvelous gift is the will that God has placed in each of us. The will is a driving force. It's what allows us to choose faith; to choose truth. It's the gift God's placed inside our hearts that allows us to choose Him. It allows us to grow. It allows us to claim the victory we have in Christ.
The will can be a frightful thing. It can become stubborn and hard. It can lead us down into deepest darkness. But it can also cause us to lift up our hands and reach for Him as He pulls us out of the pit.
Our wills, surrendered to Christ, can lead us to change. Lead us to victory. They can cause us to become vessels surrendered to God's use, through which He accomplishes great things for His glory.
A will bent against Christ leads to death and destruction. But a will surrendered to Christ leads to hope and new life.
Question: How will you choose today?
1 Peter 1:18-19, "For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God" (NLT).
Luke 19:41 "As [Jesus] approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it and said, 'If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace...'"
