The Lord will Fight for You

Exodus 14:14, “The Lord will fight for you. You need only to be still” (NIV)

"No one is coming to save you. You're all alone..." I wrote down the words that had haunted me for years--exposing my deepest fears. Others had fathers who were heroes. Fathers who would save them. Mine never would. Mine was in a grave six feet deep. And he had chosen to be there. I was a victim of circumstance it seemed. I was forgotten. But worse than my earthly father's betrayal, I felt forgotten by God Himself. Why else would my heart be so broken? Why else would there be so much pain? Why else would we keep facing so many obstacles, so many catastrophes? There is in the human heart a vulnerable, feeble, helpless emotion. Fear mingled with hope. The longing--yearning--for someone to rescue us. It wasn't long before God proved the words I'd written down wrong. He came. And with loving fury. He came like a good King; slashing swords with the enemy to free His people. He came like a Knight in shining armor to save the one He loved. He came like a loving Father fiercely defending His child. He is the God who rescues. If you feel helpless and forgotten, if you're yearning for someone to rescue you, know this: There is Someone coming to save you. You are not alone. You need only cry out to Him and He will hold you fast. You need only to reach out and accept His outstretched hand. He is not far from any of us (Acts 17:27). He paved the way for our rescue about 2,000 years ago with His own blood. 1 Peter 1:18-19 "For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God" (NLT).

Jeremiah 20:11, "But the LORD stands beside me like a great warrior. Before him my persecutors will stumble. They cannot defeat me. They will fail and be thoroughly humiliated. Their dishonor will never be forgotten" (NLT).
